You will execute university tasks with a teaching obligation of 9 hours per week per semester at the KIT Department of Business and Economics for its study degree programs in Digital Economics, Industrial Engineering and Management, Information Systems und Economathematics. We are seeking an outstanding scholar who, on the basis of excellent academic qualifications, will strengthen KIT’s expertise in the field of Economics. Possible research areas include, in addition to the economics of digitalization and artificial intelligence, political economy, behavioral economics, or climate economics. Applicants are expected to have expertise in a broad range of modern methods, such as applied theory, laboratory and field experiments, applied econometrics, dynamic optimization, or machine learning. Experience in utilizing and providing research impulses for high-performance research infrastructure at the University is desirable, for example with regard to the experimental laboratory KD2Lab. Within the degree programs of the KIT Department of Business and Economics, as well as in interdisciplinary degree programs offered jointly with the KIT Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science, the university professorship will offer lectures, tutorials, seminars, and team projects within the field of Economics. This includes the provision of compulsory courses in the Bachelor’s core curriculum, in particular the course “Introduction to Economics”. In teaching, the university professorship plays a central role with regard to the recently established degree program Digital Economics, which is to be further expanded. The university professorship is expected to contribute substantially to this program in the area of the economics of digitalization.
